Gibraltar Caves

Who knew Gibraltar had caves.  They are beautiful.  Unfortunately, it is difficult to get good pictures in a cave.  There are lots of stalagmites and stalactites.  These are natural caves and have been there for perhaps millions of years.  They are huge.

Gibralter Food

Gibralter Food

I have been asked to give some information about the food we are eating.  I am hoping for more exotic offerings, but as for today, the eating winner is our friend Gaynor.  She had a burger:  beef patty, mushrooms, cheese, sausage, bacon and fried egg.  I had a chicken curry burrito.  I have attached pictures of both.  I will try to do better.

Gibraltar Monkeys

Gibraltar is the only country in Europe that as monkeys.  I had read this and hoped that we would be able to see one.  Well, that wasn’t a problem.  We saw lots of our tailed cousins.  Our tour guide offered some cashew nuts to an ape and he came right through the window,  sat on my shoulder and ate the nuts.

Gibralter Airport

Gibraltar has a small airport.  In order to enter the country, you have to walk or drive across the runway.  They have police and “arms” to stop people while planes are landing and taking off.  From where we parked, we had to walk across the runway.

Gibraltar

Gibraltar is a real find.  It is an incredibly interesting place.  Although located in Spain, it is part of the United Kingdom.  They speak their own language that contains elements for the following languages:  English, Spanish, Arabic, Hebrew, Maltese, Portuguese, Italian and Haketia.  This mixture of languages gives us the word:  gibberish.

Weather

I have received a question about the weather.  In a word, the weather is improving.  On Saturday, our flight had to be diverted to a different airport because the weather was so bad.  Later that evening, the airport we were diverted to was also closed.  Sunday it was cloudy, but the sun made it through the clouds more often than not.  By Sunday evening, when we were tucked away in our condo, it poured and poured and poured.  Today, Monday, it was beautiful.  And tonight, we can see the moon.  Good weather is nice, but bad weather won’t stop us.
