Aetna

This picture is not great.  But if you were there and you looked across the water, you would be looking at Mount Aetna.  The reason the ground is so fertile is volcanic ash from Mount Aetha.  In person, the snow covered side of the mountain was easily visible – shinier than the clouds.  In the picture, not so easy to see.  Anyway, it’s out there.

Fertile soil?  That reminds me.  We saw lots of citrus trees.  Some were neatly arranged in rows.  Other groups seem randomly organized.  We did not see a single organized olive tree.  But we saw lots of disorganized olive trees.  In Spain, we saw huge farms of olive trees all lined up like we do it in California.  We only saw a very small part of Italy and/or Sicily.  Also, we were in very mountainous terrain.  That makes rows difficult at best.
