First, I am back on-line. Sorry for the pause. Our pace has slowed. We headed for a town named Benalmedina. Many of the Spanish names have roots in Arab names. Benalmedina is a good example: Ben Al Medina. We went there because there was supposed to be a market. We thought it would be fun to see what a Spanish market looked like. There was no market. But we saw a postcard that indicated there was a castle – Castillo. We had to ask lots of people how to get there. They would point and then give us lengthy instructions. We would go as far as the point got us and then ask somebody else. It was a long walk – downhill. We know that meant an equally long uphill walk. The Castillo was in a low location. That isn’t typical for a fort. Come to find out, the Castillo is actually a monument to Christopher Columbus that was built in 1978. Maybe the townspeople were telling us that we really shouldn’t go there, and we couldn’t understand them. I have attached a couple of pictures.
