Turkey - Ephesus

I have so many pictures.  I can’t send them all, but I will include several.  Ephesus was built by Greeks in 400 BC.  The Romans took over the city around the time of Christ and changed it to a Roman City.  The city was done in by “silting”.  There was so much silt in the rivers, they clogged the port.  Also, the silt created a marsh which was infested with mosquitoes.  The mosquitoes spread malaria.  The city was abandoned.  At one time there were 300,000 people living in and around Ephesus.  Earthquakes toppled the major buildings, The crumpled building were covered by weeds.  Over nearly 2000 years, it was hidden.  Then in 1908, someone re-discovered it.  They have been excavating the site since that time.
